Congratulations Marge & Harold!
We are very pleased to recognize Marge and Harold Fountain celebrating 65 years of marriage and 50 years as charter members of our Clinton Historical Society. They met in 1955 in Cortland, N.Y. when Marge was interning out of Iowa State College as a senior, and Hal was a new graduate from Cornell University working as Assistant County Extension Agent. They were married in 1959 in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Pine Plains, and in 1963 bought their present Hibernia Hill Farm in Clinton Corners. They always wanted horses and raised Morgans for 25 years, then changed to Percheron draft horses pulling carriages, wagons and showing at the Dutchess County Fair. Hal enjoyed a career in real estate appraisal and served on the Clinton Town Board for several years in addition to the Board at the Rhinebeck Bank. Marjorie was a 4-H club leader for many years, teaching sewing, baking, and home economics to many children. When on the Clinton 1975 Bicentennial Committee, she authored the Society’s first driving tour with a map and descriptions. Marge is currently on our Board of Trustees, serving as Hospitality and Reservations Chair. They have five children, nine grandchildren and one great grandson. Their story has been wonderfully captured on the front page of the current Northern Dutchess News February 12 edition, and we encourage our readers to view it using this link: http://www.sdutchessnews.com/images/Full%20Page%20Editions/NDN/02-12-25/02-12NDN.pdf
