    The Town of Clinton Historical Society (Clinton Historical Society), Dutchess County, New York, was organized in 1975. Its purpose is to promote and encourage historical research about the Town of Clinton and surrounding areas, to disseminate knowledge about the history of the Town of Clinton, to collect and preserve historical archives and artifacts related to the town’s history, and to identify local landmarks and encourage owners to preserve them. It is chartered by the Board of Regents, New York State Department of Education, and is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

    The Society hosts historical programs and exhibits, art and music programs, and social and fundraising events throughout the year. Monthly program meetings are open to the public and are held the first Friday of September, October, November, March, May, and June. Click here for our Calendar.

    It publishes a quarterly newsletter, historical books, and other publications.

    It maintains an archive, book collection, and a small museum collection of local interest.

    The annual business meeting and election of officers is the first Friday in April. A holiday gathering is the first Friday in December.

    Awards are given for historic preservation, community service, and conservation.

    The Society owns and preserves the 1777 Creek Meeting House, located at 2433 Salt Point Turnpike, a Registered State and National Historic Landmark.
